Word from the artist

The Return of the Teumessian Fox

There’s a story that I recently discovered about the Teumessian Fox and a dog, and it’s one that’s been living in my mind ever since. In Greek mythology, the Teumessian Fox was destined never to be caught, endlessly pursued by Laelaps, a dog fated to catch everything it chased. Their eternal chase—an impossible paradox—was only stopped when Zeus turned them both to stone.

In my painting, "The Return of the Teumessian Fox", I reimagine this myth in a modern context. The fox isn’t running through the forests of ancient Greece anymore—it’s here, navigating the chaos of a city. For me, this shift represents the way wildlife is being forced to adapt as its natural habitats are overtaken by urban development.

The Teumessian Fox, once untouchable and elusive, now becomes a symbol of resilience and survival in a world that keeps changing. The vibrant colors and geometric shapes reflect the urban environment it must now navigate, while the stars and mountains in the background are a nod to the wild spaces it has been displaced from.

This piece isn’t just about mythology - it’s about us. It’s about how humanity and nature collide, how progress and preservation coexist in tension, and what is lost in that constant balancing act.

"The Return of the Teumessian Fox" is now available in my online shop at a reduced price until February 1st. If this story resonates with you, I’d love for the painting to find a home where its message can continue to inspire.
